Nestlé India planned to enhance the environmental performance of its Moga facility by upgrading the existing Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) into a Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) system. This upgrade was driven by the company’s long-term sustainability goals, including reduced freshwater dependency, improved wastewater recovery, and alignment with internal green technology benchmarks. The facility presented a technically complex environment, as the upgrade had to be executed without halting ongoing factory operations. This created an opportunity to implement cutting-edge water treatment solutions within a running plant—requiring precise coordination, phased execution, and high safety standards. The project offered a platform to demonstrate how sustainability objectives can be achieved through strategic engineering interventions in existing manufacturing setups.
To support Nestlé India’s upgrade of the Moga facility’s Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) to a Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) system, PMG Engineering deployed a senior mechanical process engineer on-site to ensure dedicated coordination and seamless execution within an active production environment. The engineer facilitated close collaboration among vendors, civil contractors, mechanical and electrical teams, and Nestlé’s internal operations, enabling timely communication and swift resolution of technical challenges. By working closely with plant operations, PMG strategically phased shutdowns, coordinated utility interfaces, and upheld safety standards, ensuring uninterrupted factory operations throughout the project. This proactive approach enabled the successful integration of ZLD components, meeting sustainability goals without disrupting daily production.
By effectively managing coordination between vendors and stakeholders through structured planning and real-time issue resolution, PMG is ensuring the project progresses smoothly without major downtime. This careful approach allows the upgrade to continue within the operational constraints of the facility, safeguarding ongoing production activities. Once completed, the ZLD system will fulfill Nestlé India’s environmental sustainability objectives while maintaining factory efficiency and productivity throughout the transformation—demonstrating a balanced integration of innovation and operational excellence.
