Basic Design forms a foundational phase that lays the groundwork for the entire project. This phase involves the initial conceptualization and definition of the project's key parameters and requirements. Basic Design encompasses fundamental decisions regarding the project's scope, functionality, and overall design approach. Key elements addressed during this phase include defining the project's objectives, outlining the major components and systems, and specifying the technical and performance criteria. Additionally, Basic Design involves an assessment of potential risks and challenges, helping to shape the project's overall strategy and feasibility. The outcomes of this phase serve as a blueprint for subsequent detailed engineering activities and play a crucial role in guiding the overall direction of the turnkey project. As the first step in the project lifecycle, Basic Design sets the stage for a systematic and well-informed approach to the subsequent phases of engineering, construction, and implementation in turnkey solutions.


The Design Basis feeds into the subsequent Process and Equipment Design Detail Engineering phase, where detailed plans, specifications, and documentation are developed for construction and implementation. Process Design Detail Engineering involves translating conceptual designs into detailed plans, including process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, safety analyses, and process simulations. Simultaneously, Equipment Design Detail Engineering specifies, designs, and documents equipment, involving selection, layout, detailed specifications, and integration with control systems.
