Opportunity
The project involved the design and execution of a 600 KLPD Milk Handling and Dairy Product Manufacturing Facility in Uganda, a greenfield venture aimed at creating a state-of-the-art dairy processing plant. The facility was designed to meet high market demand while adhering to stringent environmental standards. It integrated precise milk intake systems, including calibrated weighbridges and advanced milk reception units, ensuring top-quality milk for diverse production lines. The plant could produce high-demand dairy products such as milk powder, casein, lactose, cream, butter, ghee, and Anhydrous Milk Fat (AMF), with flexibility for adapting to evolving market needs.
Sustainability was a key focus, with eco-friendly utilities including a coffee husk-fired boiler, high-performance air compressors, chilling units, cooling towers, and an in-house nitrogen generation system, all designed to enhance product quality and longevity. Electrical and automation systems were integrated throughout, ensuring operational efficiency and streamlined production. The facility complied with environmental regulations through a Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) type Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP), Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), and water treatment systems providing raw, soft, and RO water. This greenfield project established a scalable, market-responsive dairy operation with significant growth potential.
Solution
PMG delivered a comprehensive solution for the design and execution of the 600 KLPD Milk Handling and Dairy Product Manufacturing Facility. The project followed a systematic approach, encompassing basic design, detailed engineering, and full execution. We leveraged our expertise in constructing civil and Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) structures, with foundation designs tailored to rigorous load analysis to ensure cost-effectiveness and structural integrity. Our work included the development of Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), consumption sheets, load calculations, battery limits, and optimized piping routes.
Our scope also covered the creation of User Requirement Specifications (URS), Bills of Quantities (BOQ), and Technical Completion Certificates (TCCs), ensuring transparency and accountability throughout the project. PMG provided robust technical support for procurement, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and efficient logistics management, including delivery, unloading, and storage of materials. During the installation and commissioning phases, we issued Good for Construction (GFC) drawings and ensured strict adherence to design specifications and quality standards. This integrated service offering facilitated a seamless project execution, resulting in a high-capacity, efficient, and sustainable dairy operation.
Outcome
The execution was successfully completed, meeting all project objectives. The facility adhered to the specified quality and compliance standards, showcasing exceptional performance across all phases. By optimizing resources, we delivered a cost-effective solution without compromising on quality. Strategic time management ensured that key milestones were achieved on schedule, while effective collaboration between all stakeholders led to smooth operations throughout the project. The successful completion of the facility established a robust, scalable, and market-responsive dairy operation, positioning it for long-term success and growth in the industry.
