The project involved the design, execution, and construction supervision of a state-of-the-art 20 TPD almond processing facility, intended to supply high-quality products to a major MNC in the B2B domain. The plant had to adhere to stringent quality and design standards specified by the client. Key processes included raw almond reception, fumigation, storage, pre-processing, cleaning, and hygienic packaging, supported by essential utilities such as a boiler, air compressors, HVAC system, and water treatment plant. The primary challenge was ensuring that the almond processing maintained an optimal temperature and met precise cutting and slicing specifications. The facility was to be set up in a pre-constructed PEB building, necessitating complete internal works and installations to meet the highest food safety and hygienic engineering standards, all within a demanding 12-month timeline
PMG provided comprehensive project oversight, ensuring all elements of the design and construction adhered to the MNC’s stringent standards. Key services included: • Development of detailed engineering documents, including flowsheets, Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), equipment layouts, and piping and electrical distribution plans. • Installation supervision for critical components, including an LPG-fired boiler, air compressors, water softener, and HVAC system. • Proactive procurement support, managing supplier relationships and timely follow-ups to ensure seamless execution. • Implementation of food safety standards and hygienic engineering practices across all stages. All shop drawings from suppliers underwent rigorous review and were integrated into a master drawing to avoid conflicts. Good for Construction (GFC) drawings were issued for execution, and factory visits to key suppliers ensured proactive quality assurance and adherence to timelines. We also supported Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) before dispatch and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) to verify performance parameters prior to final payments.
The almond processing facility was successfully completed and certified for production, meeting all client specifications and MNC standards. The design and construction were delivered within the 12-month timeline, with a focus on hygiene and food safety, ensuring a robust and scalable operation. The project was executed with minimal disruptions to existing PEB shed with effective and detailed planning and proactive risk management. Our contribution established a world-class almond processing operation in Mumbai, ready for future growth and aligned with industry-leading food safety standards.
