Food defense

Food defense and food safety are not one and the same. Food safety focuses on preventing unintentional contamination to avert foodborne illness, food defense is the strategic protection against intentional adulteration of food. This could involve biological, chemical, physical, or radiological threats, and requires a comprehensive plan to safeguard the food supply. Threats to our food can come from both inside and outside a facility. which range from any contaminating matter to unauthenticated article. Large batches of food and products with short shelf lives are particularly vulnerable, as they can reach more people before a problem is detected.
