Ice cubes are formed through controlled freezing of water, typically at temperatures below 0°C. Meticulous purification processes ensure the ice's purity. Advanced ice-making machines regulate freezing conditions, minimizing impurities and ensuring uniform crystal formation. Once frozen, the ice cubes are carefully packaged to maintain quality and stored in low-temperature environments. These processes ensure the production of high-quality ice cubes for various applications.

Ice cubes are small, frozen cubes of water used to chill beverages and food items. At their simplest they are made by filling an ice cube tray with water and placing it in a freezer until the water freezes solid; at commercial scale the same principle is delivered by continuous ice-making machines with automated harvesting, sorting and cold storage.

Demand splits across three market segments. Household use covers ice made in homes for personal consumption. Commercial use covers restaurants, bars, hotels and other commercial establishments, where consistency of cube size and clarity matters to the served product. Industrial use covers applications such as food processing, alongside other industrial sectors.

Commercial production runs in four stages. Water treatment comes first: the water used in ice cube production must be treated to remove impurities and contaminants that can affect the quality of the ice. The treated water is then pumped into an ice-making machine that freezes it into cubes. Harvesting is an automated process in which cubes may be dropped onto a conveyor belt and then sorted and packaged for distribution. Finally, the ice is stored in large, insulated containers or ice bins that keep the cubes frozen until they are ready to be used.
