Layout Mistakes That Never Show on Drawings

Layout Mistakes That Never Show on Drawings

Not every factory layout problem is obvious on a drawing. Some of the most costly issues only become visible after production begins—when operators struggle with movement, cleaning becomes difficult, maintenance access is restricted, or material and people flows start crossing.

Poorly planned layouts can create unnecessary travel, bottlenecks, cross-contamination risks, inefficient material handling, difficult equipment access, and underutilized production areas. These issues may look minor during the design stage but can significantly affect productivity, safety, hygiene, and operating costs over the life of a facility.

A future-ready food factory requires more than fitting equipment into available space. PMG considers process flow, personnel movement, material movement, hygiene zoning, utilities, maintenance access, equipment clearances, storage, safety, and future expansion while developing factory layouts.

The goal is to identify potential problems before construction—not after the factory is operational.
