Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) refer to the legal rights that protect creations of the human mind, such as inventions, literary and artistic works, symbols, names, images, and designs. The main purpose of IPR is to encourage creativity and innovation by providing exclusive rights to creators and owners of intellectual property, thereby enabling them to earn financial rewards for their creations and invest in further research and development.

Introduction • Intellectual property rights (IPR) refers to the legal rights given to the inventor to protect his invention for a certain period. • These legal rights confer an exclusive right to the inventor or his assignee to fully utilize his invention for a given period. Infringement • When a brand name is registered, the purpose of this is no one can copy the registered brand name. • In trade mark act there is some provision given for this.  Section 29 says – if someone uses registered trade mark, person can sue the other party and file a legal case against them.  If someone uses a name same to registered company name and customers think both brands are related to each other, in this condition legal actions can be taken.
