It is a system that is designed to provide heating and cooling to a large area or a whole building through a centralized unit. Central HVAC systems are composed of several components, including a furnace or boiler, ductwork, a thermostat, and an air conditioning unit. The furnace or boiler generates heat, which is then distributed throughout the building via ductwork. The thermostat controls the temperature by turning the system on and off. The air conditioning unit cools the air and removes humidity from the building. Central HVAC systems are commonly used in large buildings, such as offices, hospitals, schools, and commercial establishments. They are also used in residential homes that require a centralized heating and cooling system. These systems are efficient and effective in maintaining a comfortable indoor environment throughout the year. The working principle of Central HVAC systems involves the transfer of heat energy between the indoor air and the outdoor environment, using a series of components and processes. The system typically consists of four main components: the thermostat, the furnace or air handler, the ductwork, and the air conditioning unit. When the thermostat senses that the indoor temperature is too low, it signals the furnace or air handler to turn on. The furnace then heats the air and circulates it through the ductwork, which distributes the warm air throughout the building. If the indoor temperature becomes too high, the thermostat signals the air conditioning unit to turn on. The air conditioning unit then removes heat and humidity from the indoor air, and circulates cool air back into the building through the same ductwork. The ductwork serves as a pathway for air to travel throughout the building. It is typically made up of metal or flexible tubing and is designed to distribute the heated or cooled air evenly throughout the building. The major components of a Central HVAC system are: 1. Thermostat: This is the control center for the system. It senses the indoor temperature and signals the HVAC system to turn on or off as needed to maintain the desired temperature. 2. Furnace or air handler: This is the component that heats or cools the air. The furnace burns fuel, such as natural gas or oil, to produce heat. The air handler contains the evaporator coil, which cools the air when the air conditioning system is in use. 3. Ductwork: This is the pathway through which heated or cooled air travels throughout the building. The ductwork is typically made up of metal or flexible tubing. 4. Air conditioning unit: This component removes heat and humidity from the indoor air. It contains the compressor, condenser, and evaporator coil. 5. Vents or registers: These are the openings in the ductwork that allow heated or cooled air to enter each room. 6. Air filter: This component removes airborne contaminants from the air before it is circulated throughout the building. It is typically located in the return air duct. 7. Exhaust system: This component removes stale air and contaminants from the building. It is typically located in bathrooms and kitchens. These components work together to provide a comfortable indoor environment by heating or cooling the air and circulating it throughout the building.
