Density modes — fit more on screen — Workspace
Compact for dense lists, Comfortable for default, Reading for long-form content.
Three density modes
Workspace supports three density modes so the same app can feel right
across different screens and tasks:
Compact — Tighter rows, smaller body text. Great for
monitoring lots of tasks at once on a large monitor or for
power users who want to scan dense lists quickly.
Comfortable — The default. Balanced spacing
that suits most users on most screens.
Reading — Generous spacing and a bigger
body font. Ideal for help articles, knowledge base entries,
and long-form documents.
How to switch
Density is a per-device preference saved in your browser. To change
it, open the command palette (Cmd / Ctrl +
K) and search for "density" — or visit your profile page
where the toggle lives next to the dark-mode switch.
What changes between modes
Density only affects spacing-related things:
List row vertical padding (8 px / 12 px / 16 px)
Card padding (12 px / 16 px / 24 px)
Body text size (13 px / 14 px / 16 px)
Form field gaps
Colors, icons, and structure stay identical. So switching density never
